My hair seems to be coming back in. I haven't dyed it for over a year, so I am not entirely certain that the dye had anything to do with...anything. However, I am still reluctant to do anything "abusive" to my hair. Is it safe, or should I just be grateful for regrowth and leave it natural?

Some beauticians may study this during training. Call a beauty "college" and ask if anyone has details. As for me, I now dye the white sideburns and top hair to match my wigs, and nothing happens to my real hair. I have been doing this for about 6 months. However, since I do not really think I will ever have complete regrowth, I am willing to take the dye chance so my white sideburns do not draw attention to the fact that I am wearing a brunette or red wig...no great loss if something happens from the dye, since I have so little hair anyway. I keep my original hair about 1" long just to remember having hair, and to watch what happens to it over the years due to mood or diet changes.
HI Megan,
I have lots of white hair on my head at the moment. I find that every time I dye it, I lose more than I would just washing it, for instance. The chemicals are pretty tough on those fragile hairs, but like Tall girl, I do the hair around my face more frequently to blend with the integration system and extensions I have.

Is the hair growing in white or your own colour?
Yeah if it isn't the white hair then I would leave it, and the fact that it is your natural hair colour that is growing back in is great!
Hi there,

I do hair. (I'm bald and I do hair - I'm funny like that).

Bleaching/lightening your hair is obviously the most damaging. Professional, permanent hair colour has come a long way and can be pretty ok on your tender hair if you are going darker or changing the colour but staying the same colour level.

You can do semi/demi permanent colour which we all call glossing /glazing now which is very gentle on the hair and needs to be refreshed about every 2-4 weeks depending on how often you wash your hair, but this is only a 10-25 minute process normally done while you are in the shampoo bowl. This will not lighten your hair at all but can take you from brunette to red or another shade or tone.

Good luck.

I colour mine like crazy... I figure it just falls out when it wants to regardless (right now it's black and blue)
