I saw a show of Dr Oz and he said if any body was suffering with hair lost, they should be taking Evening Primrose Oil and using rogaine. I have been using it and did some reading about it, and I do see some good improvement. I have been taking other medication and vits. Something good is going on. I think this might be worth the try. It has a lot of great benefits, including reduction of inflammation.

I take evening Primrose pills everyday, and am still bald. I mostly take it to keep my menstral cycle regular. I'm going to try iron supplements, as I hear there is a strong suspected correlation between iron deficiency and baldness, especially in otherwise healthy women.
I'm not saying it will regrow your hair, but it does have some benifits. I think it helps thinning, My hair was diffused. I once this morning, I should be taking 3xday, I was taking 1xday. I notice the same wih my fish oil. Dominique, (what a beautiful name), and they named me Angrol.

Dominique make sure you take blood work fist to check to see if you are iron deficiency, cause too much will cause your hair to fall out and cause some major health issues. I wanted that to be my issue, blood work said "Nope"
Even if blood work says your iron is normal, it could be in the "low normal range" and you could still benefit from extra iron, and many menstrating women can be a bit iron deficient. I do plan on speaking to my Dr. about it though.
Yes I undertand. I will ask if my blood work was normal or low normal range. I'm thinking we need to be carefull, because if we take a multi vit, we are getting some iron from there. I remember when my gym said I should be taking extra calcium Well I took that to another level and took it upon myself to take extra. Girl I was so sick for so long. My calcium level was so high. So let's just proceed with with caution. I thought about iron, went and purchase some, but after I started reading I was afraid to contine. It also causes hair lost.
Each one teach one! :-)
Be careful with iron supplements, and seriously ask you doctor first. Iron overdose can cause liver failure and even death, obviously this is rare. But I plan on asking my doctor before beginning my iron regimen.
hey all... just thought i'd add what i was told to. you can have normal iron levels and low ferriton stores which can cause hair loss.. there is a lot of info on Ferriton
jess
Thnak you Jessice for that information. I never heard of this. TY. I have to return to my derm. for blood work, I will be sure to mention Ferrtin.
Here is a website for Ferritin blood work.

I haven't a clue if evening primrose oil will help thinning but in my case - it certainly didn't help with alopecia prevention. I started taking evening primrose oil back in the late 1980s. I thought it might help my eczema - which it didn't, to be honest. I took it for years, i still developed AU. I have been taking fish oil daily for past few years. I'm still AU but I feel the oils are good for me in other ways.
LOL, Well keep taking the fish oil for other health reasons. :-)
I use 500mg
