Hi everyone! I'm new here & this is my first post. I've experienced hair thinning since High School but it's gotten progrssively worse since then and rapidly in the last few yesrs. I recently decided to buzz what was left down & wear wigs. This was a pretty easy transition since my mom is practically bald & has worn wigs now for years.

I have PCOS & I think that contributes to my excessive heat and sweat but I've been looking for ways to keep cool with my wigs, but especially when exercising or spending time outdoors. I am saving up to buy a piece from Hip Hats with Hair, but I just spent a lot on my new wigs & accessories. Until then I plan on getting a halo piece whch is basically a wig with an open top you wear under hats or stuff.

Does anyone know of a wig cap that is moisture wicking but not disposable such as the Headline it profuct? I'd prefer something that I can wash & reuse, but it will need to be fairly light in color to match my scalp in case it shows a little depending on which headware I'm wearing.

Thanks so much!

I only wear a buff or a bandana at the gym. I get them in pretty pink or purple shades and it looks ok. It is the coolest option i have found. Xx
Hi :) I did see some cute head scarves at my local wig shop called Chemo Beanies which are gathered in the back with sewn in elastic so they just slip on & don't require any styling. They have a lot of colors & patterns so they're really cute. I may try this in the future but I just started to wear wigs & just this month cut my remaining hair off. I don't think I'm quite ready or comfortable letting anyone other than family see me without my hair. So, for now, I hope I can find something cool enough that still looks like hair.

Thanks so much for your tip!

Hi I always buy 2 of the wig I am wearing , one for out of the house and one for house, camp, workouts.................then it is easier to transition................
I have some eh eh ones that are stictly house and yard ones...........
I wear mine to workout they have breathing room, so I sweat but just like normal people......
The best thing is normall people cannot take there heads (hair) off to cool down completely.......
LOL that part is the best......I only do this at home though.

I cannot wear wigs when I have a migraine , it then feels like an elastic band.

good luck :)

Hi Denise :)

The problem with wearing a full wig is that I have a very high body temp naturally and due to hormone imbalances, etc. I sweat a lot! I know it's normal for everyone to sweat when they exercise, but I don't want to be a total puddle. Also, the wigs I'm looking at are quite expensive and I would have to wash it often since I have a very sensitive scalp and I could imagine if I don't keep it clean it will cause my scalp to break out. The best thing I've found so far is the Rene of Paris Halo which can be purchased pretty long and similar in length to my wigs and worn under a ball cap. I'd prefer to just go all out and purchase a PonySport from Hip Hats with Hair, but they're around $250 for basically a really nice Halo piece. Then I'd have to purchase the Headline It sweat absorbing liner to keep from having to wash the Hair piece as often. It just adds up and since I'm new to wigs I'm having to get all new wigs due to trial and epic fail as well as all the tools, care products, etc. I was hoping there might be a better option that still gives the appearance of hair, but will be cooler, more durable and cheaper alternative than using a full wig.

Thanks so much for your tip!

Hi! I wear a wig all the time, but when going to the gym or doing excersize I usually wear a pre-tied bandana since it's more comfortable. At first, when I went to the gym with my headscarf I thought I would feel so out of place that I was the only one wearing a head scarf but I was so surprised to see a bunch of other women wearing them as well! It turns out they like wearing them to keep their hair out of their face while excersizing. When you are ready to start wearing head scarves to the gym I'm sure you won't be the first one there wearing one, and if you are, you start the trend! I get my pre-tied bandanas from www.myheadcoverings.com - they specialize in head coverings and head scarves for people with hair loss and always have the perfect pre-tied bandanas that I need for the gym. Good luck with everything and keep on smiling!!

When I complained about sweating so much under my wig, my doctor prescribed Drysol. It's a roll-on antiperspirant. I feel so much cooler with a dry scalp and dry wig. I hope that helps.

Not worth the effort.

Perspiration will ruin it in no time.

Just wear a smart scarf .
