Hello everyone...

I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata July of this year but my spot appeared in May.  I've had three rounds of steroid shots.  My eyes has been itchy and would be losing an eyelash here and there. I haven't seen any gaps yet (knock on wood), but it seems that my eyelashes are thinning...  does it mean I will go Alopecia Universalis?  or can I lose my eyelashes and still have hair on my head?  Any comments, suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Hi Maria!

First don't panic. It doesn't mean that you are developing alopecia totalis or universalis. I've had alopecia areata for years and have lost lashes only to have them fill back in. Others have lost all their lashes but still have some hair remain on their head.

Everyone is different. Good luck!

There is a good chance that you will keep your eyebrows. My friend thought she would loose them a couple of times already but she still has them today even though she suffers from alopecia areata for several years.
