My eyelashes are falling out again. When this happens my eyes are very irritated. They aren't irritated because there are no lashes to protect my eye. It's more like the imune system is attacking the eyelash area and causing irritation. Does this happen to you as well? There are small white lashes where they are falling out. I'm not sure that it's new growth or if those are the lashes that are left? What happens when your lashes fall out? How does it feel? How does it feel when they grow back. Could the irritation be from regrowth instead of loss? Please share your experience? Thank you! I'm extremely depressed about this...

Also, the irritation is in the inner corner of my eye too. Like the tear duct area? It itches and if I touch it at all, my eye tears up badly. This is making my nose run as well. Is this normal with loss? Is it normal with regrowth?

Hi Liberty,

My lashes fall out all the time. Sometimes in big sections, sometimes less.

The lids always itch intensely before each episode. So if you rub the lids throughout the day to relieve the itch you can possibly create a secondary irritation. There are anti itch ointments made specifically for use near the eye that a doctor can prescribe. Regular ani-itch meds cannot be used near the eye.

Regrowth to my knowledge does not create any irritation.

Personally, I thicken up the base of the lash line no matter how sparse or short the lashes are or even if there are big sections missing with gel liner. It's thick ( kind of like mascara) so it makes a "base" and looks like lashes are coming out. I use it at the very edge of the lid where lashes grow from. Once dry it does not budge, does not smear or run. Great stuff!

Latisse will regrow your eyelashes if they haven't been gone for very long; it will also keep them from falling out in the first place. A lot of women are afraid to use Latisse because it warns about eye color change, but that isn't likely. Patients using a similar drug (Lumigan) placed directly into the eye, to treat elevated intraocular pressure/glaucoma have experienced a change in the color of their iris pigment. However, patients using Latisse have not reported any iris pigment changes. This is most likely because Latisse is only 5% of the volume and is applied to the base of the upper eyelashes vs. applied directly into the eye. Most of Latisse is absorbed by the skin at the upper eyelid margin.

The risk of infection from the one-time use brushes they provide is a lot less than the risk from infection using your mascara wand or eyeliner brush over and over again.
Hi where do i get this latisse? is it on prescription or do i get it on line?

Thanks Donna x
Donna, you need a prescription from your dermatologist.
Not yet, but I just started using it. It takes about three months to see results. I figure if it works, great, and if it doesn't I haven't lost anything!
I posted a recent study on lantranprost (lumigan) showing some positive results. Ironically, I lost a patch of lashes in Apr 2008. In late Jan 2009, I got a Rx for lattisee. Before filing it, I got what I thought was an eye infection and a few days later, my missing lashes regrew. Then in Oct 2009 I went AU and lost all my lashes. I started lumigan three days ago. My eyes are now puffy and there are about 5 new lashes coming in. Bizarre. Its virtually the same week I had regrowth last year. I dont think there would have been time for the Lumigan to work so I think its another cooincidence. I dont know how far it will progress.

As for eyebrows, old studies showed no benefit but they also showed no benefit for eyes, whereas new ones are more promising. Anyway, I get kenalog in my brows and it works well enough to let me fill in the rest with powder.

Good luck!
Hi just to keep you all posted, iv an appointment with my consultant in a couple of weeks so will be asking him for Latisse, fingers crossed i get some, my eyelashes seem to be coming out really slowly though and now noticed a little patch in my brow so hope i can get some???
