FFA and new med results (Griseofulvin)

Almost three weeks into minocycline and Griseofulvin and my hair shedding has definitely stopped. The last few days I noticed no hair in the sink and when I wash my hair not coming out. I wish I would have gone to the University sooner. Anyone out there that is just experiencing hair loss, get to a good alopecia expert at a University. Don't mess around with the locals. I wasted too much time and time is precious when you first notice these symptoms.

wow...i knew i should have been sneaking someof the grisufolvin when my daughter was on it,,,,her hair has grown back and down her back...i still got a few bottles but i have been bald now for over six years...hope it continues to work for you...my hair is growin very slow but the bald spots are very present...this is so weird

Yes it is a prescription. I go back to the doctor on March 13th, I will find out more info as far as how long to be on it, etc.

That is wonderful news. What is your daily dosage for each drug? Did the side effects that you first experience subside? Thanks for sharing.

Yes the side effects subsided after being on them two days. I take 250 mg Griseofulvin twice a day and minocycline 50 mg twice a day. I guess the Griseo builds up in your skin, so I take it every 12 hours. From what I gather, its trying to get my immune system to quit attacking my skin and hair follicles.

I would like to hear more about these drugs. I live in Toronto Canada...never heard of these drugs. I am assuming they are oral.... I have AU....started losing my hair 2 years ago and lost it all this past October. I am now trying DCPC..its a topical solution. sort of like chemo....immune system attacks the 'poison' rather then the hair follicles. Its only done in a few hospitals in Canada. I go once a week minimum 4 months. I've been going for a month....fingers are crossed.

What are the side effects for these drugs?
