I initially joined Alopecia World on a day where I was completely bummed about having this condition. I rarely post because . . . well, I just didn't feel I had anything helpful to add. I can honestly say that many of you have helped me through some pretty difficult days, and you've given excellent advice. The absolute best advice I've been given is for the shu uemura lashes! EXCELLENT lashes!

Today, I'd like to give back! I am an African American woman who, for the longest, has been looking for a viable wig. I have alopecia universalis that came with a quickness. I didn't have much time to learn about options, pricing, caps or textures. A few months after losing my hair, I lost lashes and brows. I didn't like the look at all (and I was NEVER superficial where looks or hair was concerned). I had naturally jet black hair which, when it went left a scalp, lash and brow line that was basically the color of the palms of my hands. I was, to say the least, distressed and discouraged. For a year and a half I've been looking for a wig, unit (whatever you want to call it) because I've yet to feel comfortable walking around in all of my hairless glory . . . not to mention I'm a high school teacher . . . I'm private, introverted . . . behind the scenes . . . not ready to become BFFs with the alopecia universalis - though we are chummy acquaintances. There's civility now. There's also a hair option that I am FINALLY excited about!

Lisa Perry, a stylist/illusionist, lives and works in Addison,TX. After trudging through website after website, flying city to city with hope that one of those trips would render a solution (of course, none did) - I've found it - right under my nose. I had a consult with Lisa, and immediately felt at ease and comfortable. She was concerned about me, and what I wanted. She also taught me A LOT, and gave tips on how to improve my make-up, enhances my lashes and brows. She is, to say the least, wonderful. I have gone to MANY people - never experiencing the productive consult that I had with her.

I wouldn't post this if it weren't. No gimmick, no scam or schemes . . . I hope she's able to help someone else as much as she's helped me.
