I was very concerned when I was placed on 5mg finasteride, by my derm. He asked if there was any history of breast or ovarian cancer in my family. There isn’t. Still, that’s scary stuff.  He insisted that it’s safe, but he had to ask that question. The longer I am on it, the more fearful I am becoming. I’ve been researching it more extensively. I am reading that “5mg finasteride is safe in post menopausal women with NO hyperandrogenism”. That would not be me! I have suffered with excess hair growth and acne. My ovaries do not show PCOS. I am very slim. I barely ever got a period and had to go through infertility treatment (ovarian stimulation and another risk for ovarian cancer). My testosterone level is normal. I am freaking out right now. Any feedback from others on this drug would be appreciated. I’m very fearful to stay on it and also fearful of going off of it and having all my hair fall out. Been on it for about a year and a half. I am age 63 and have AGA and FFA. Thank you!
