In 2011,I lost 95percent of my hair due to a very rare form of alopecia & had a topper for only 2 months before I had to suddenly switch to full wigs, with no time to ''transition'',I had to immediately adapt & I adapted well immediately ! I quickly acclimated myself to wearing wigs 24/7
even to sleep & swim. Except for the shower,I have a wig on & I now have approximately 30 wigs now,
All have DERMAFIX sewn in my wigcaps,& I have a Sure Grip Comfy Grip gel headband under my wigs,
All my wigs are custom sewing altered so that they fit my head perfectly,no tape no glue no adhesive no bonding. I don't even feel like I am wearing a wig,it feels normal & natural. I have over 30 wigs so I rotate/alternate them,so none get excessive wear & tear, Even in 95degree temps,I am comfy,
I even have ponytail wigs,so I can stay cool & I wear wigs at the pool/beach.
By wearing wigs 24/7,I am never bald except in the shower, I only have about 5% of my bio hair
so bio hair won't be a problem for me with regard to wig fit,

I now LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE wearing/buying wigs & am extremely open & candid about my alopecia & wig wearing, with others,so I don't have to ''keep it a secret'' & ''hide it'',

And with custom wig sewing alteration work, you WON'T have bagging,

I recommend you wear wigs 24/7 like I do,so that you always have nice hair,it will make you feel much better by looking much better, The hair will make you look/feel healthier & happier,

You will soon learn to not worry/obsess,And I can refer you to my wig experts,I am sure they will help you like they help me

I feel like I am right where you are at. I have had AA for about 12 years but no on knew because it was always on the underneath of my hair and just a few patches that were never noticeable. This year it came back with a vengeance and for the first time I was faced with purchasing a wig. I did the same as you and went to a salon quickly and bought a human hair wig (crazy expensive) I had it cut three times because it just did not look like me. I have always had thin hair and then with this thing - boom I had a thick head of hair. I just felt it looked fake. I probably should have done my research also and I think next time I will be much more savvy. After finding this site - I have so much more information and websites. I also have the bagging and it makes me crazy but I already sunk this much money into, I need to just deal with it until I am ready to buy another.
I just recently shaved my head and boy did it take some thought. But like you my wig was slipping around and driving me insane. After I did it (also leaving the bangs and small area around my face untouched) the wig did feel so much better, and I felt I looked a little better too. I looked really crazy with the stringy pieces hanging there. But I still wouldn't dare walk around like that - so not ready. I still have a hard time looking at myself. In time I guess. When I go out with my wig I still feel everyone is examining it and knows it if a wig. I know it is just me, but you are right about how hard it is to go out for the first few times. I hope this gets easier.
