Fluocinonide 0.5% and Rogaine 5%
I have scaring alopecia and my Dermatologist prescribed Fluocinonide 0.5% to use on and off for 2 weeks, and asked me to try Rogaine 5% foam daily. I have occasional pimples/boils on my bald spots. I have used the flucinonide, but haven't seen any visible results, as the boils still appeared and disappeared on their own. I have not tried the Rogaine foam yet. Please has anyone here used any of these medications with success?

hello, I was given the same prescription, to use daily not on and off, and I also had scabby pimples in the affected areas. Actually the Fluocinonide burned when I used it, does it do that to you, too? The rogaine made me feel dizzy and nauseous, and I found it lowers blood pressure so that makes sense.
The doctor said I have "Alopecia Areata with scarring" and I'm not sure if it's the same thing as Scarring Alopecia. After my checkback to measure my progress my hair loss was about 50% worse with new spots emerging. I don't mean for that to be discouraging because we're all different, and it may work for you. How long have you been on it?

Thanks for your response Finley. Yes, mine is also Alopecia Areata with scarring. I only used the Fluocinonide for two weeks and stopped, and i haven't tried the Rogaine. I am just not sure if it will solve my alopecia as i have already read that it is an autoimmune disease with no cure. Thanks again for sharing your experience.
