OK...I need some advice. I've had alopecia for 27 years, (I'm 38). Currently, I have a freedom wig, which I LOVE. Here's the problem. I have hair growth, but it is still really thin. So, every day I have to shave in order to have the wig fit well. After doing this for a couple of years, it is getting old. Plus, I go through these times where I just want to see how my growth is. I love the wig I have right now. I would like to get something similar, but not a vacuum. Any thoughts?

Absolutely. Try a monofilament top wig. It won't necessarily be the most comfortable while your hair growth is going through the buzzcut stage -- you know, where it's sticking straight up and is kind of stiff -- but nothing is going to be comfy for that stage. When your hair gets long enough, you can wear a wig cap underneath the wig so that the volume of hair doesn't affect wig fit. You might want to order your cap a size up so that you have more room to adjust the ear tabs over new growth.
I don't know whether you want to stay in the same price range as a Freedom wig for this experiment. If yes, I'm happy to make some recommendations. But you may simply want to get a synthetic wig since it probably won't take you too long to see what your hair growth is and to decide whether you are going to return to keep shaving and wearing a Freedom Wig.
Thanks for your reply. I would like to get a little cheaper than the Freedom wigs, but I realize that it is going to be more expensive than what I used to pay. I always purchased monofilament wigs in the past. I just hate the lace front. I never found it looked natural.
Thanks for all advice!
My pleasure. :)
Not all monofilament wigs are lace front. I find lace fronts uncomfortable, too, so I wear a monofilament top that does not have a lace front. I always wear bangs; my face just looks better with them, anyway.
I get my wigs from Amy Gibson at Created Hair. I did have a Follea when I started wearing wigs, and that was very nice, but I prefer Amy's caps. I'm not an expert in Freedom wigs, but I from what I've seen on these boards, I think the prices are about equivalent.
You may also want to experiment with some synthetics. I was recently out and about on a business trip, and I stopped in at a random wig store that I found while I was walking from the office to the parking garage -- it was just right there. They had synthetics going for about $29-$39, and I tried on a few (I don't know why, but stores like this tend to limit you to 3). Anyway, I found a wig that turned out to look good on me -- great color, great cut, and the synthetic hair pretty smooth and swishy. I bought it and have worn it almost every day for when I'm at home or grocery shopping, etc. I don't wear it to work; it's too different from my usual style. But I really like it for casual wear and I'm actually thinking of dying my human hair wig to the same color this coming fall or winter. There was no label, but I'm pretty sure that the wig is a Bobbi Boss.
I tried it and newlacecu, to me a lot of better newlacecu, no comparasion .
Here a video of aq woman that change the wig for a modern hair systems ...
