Gluing hair extension/weave to scalp?
My daughter is universalis and has a human hair wig. Because she is a teenager and likes to style her hair a lot, they don't seem to last very long. I'm buying one every 7-months or so (gets pretty expensive).
She is in need of a new wig now and when we went to the wig shop to order one, the owner mentioned she has been trying to learn how to glue weave/hair extensions onto a mannequin and if we would let her learn how to do it on my daughter, she would only charge us the cost of the hair.
Does anyone have experience with this?

I do. I am a hair stylist and was first introduced to "quick weaves" in beauty school. I wouldn't suggest gluing it right onto the scalp but instead glue the hair onto a wig cap so if she wants to take it off she can and then she can glue it back on her head. Most weft can be styled with thermal tools. I prefer quick weaves in the cooler months because i can go a lot longer without having to shampoo my head. I say give it a try and see if she likes it. They are a lot cheaper than human hair wigs

Thanks so much, Brittany! I appreciate the response. :) Are there any videos showing the method you explain above? I'm having a hard time visualizing how this will look as good as a wig where my daughter is totally bald and we'd have to do a whole head... :)

Go to YouTube and look up quick weaves. I had mine with a bald head as well. Think of it as some making a custom wig on her head. If done right they look totally natural and they don't itch a bad. One thing to remember is to braid it at night because sleep can ruin them. I hope that method works out for her. You can be so creative with quick weaves and you out her could learn to do it yourself at home

I did it. It was a good solution until I needed a change.
Downsides: it's itchy! And you can't take it off! You don't have to wash your hair too often and if you do, it goes a little crazy for a couple of days.
Upside: You don't take it off so it feels like you have real hair.
The key is finding someone who knows what they're doing. I'm the only Caucasian client my hairdresser has. She knows her weaves, glues, wigs and everything else because black women do this all the time. She does an amazing job. If your hairdresser hasn't done this before, it could end up looking pretty bad.
