Hello everyone,

This is my first post, looking for some information for my son. He is 7 years old.

After we came back from an International trip in April, my son had the first patch on his scalp in first week of May. The patch started filling in from 3rd week of May and now it is covered with hair although less dense. Very thankful on this front.  At the same time, his hair started thinning above ears and thinning continues at very slow pace.

I had different answers from doctors - iron deficiency, vitamin d deficiency, trichotillomania, aa, and undefined hair loss. After nagging for some answers, they prescribed some tests.

My son's Ferritin was 14 and vitamin D was 30 barely on the low end of expected ranges. Thank God I nagged. Per doc's suggestion, we started him on Iron and Vitamin d supplements.

Are there any specialists in Seattle are who specialize diagnosing hair problems?  The dermatologists we saw had varied opinions and I genuinely think that they they are not listening to us and we did not find the right one.

Are there standard tests that can help to diagnose root cause with reasonable certainty?

Thanks and regards

AL
