As a baby and very young child I was diagnosed with a ton of different allergies, including human hair, various animals, drugs, foods and environmental allergies. This was back in the early 70s. However, I didn't realize until yesterday, when my father told me, that an allergist back then had actually diagnosed me with an allergy to my own hair. I didn't have any hair fall out at that time, just eczema. Now I'm wondering could the alopecia I'm experiencing for the first time at 48 be linked back to this early hair allergy? Has anyone else at any point in their lives been diagnosed with a hair allergy?

No....I do have seasonal allergies though.  How would you know if you are allergic to your own hair?

At that time it was discovered through extensive scratch testing. I had updated testing about seven years ago also but only for a few things, some foods and environmental allergies.
