I was wondering if any of you had the following hair changes in color, texture or pigment. I have diffuse alopecia areata and before this I had very dark, thick and curly hair. When the alopecia struck, I noticed that I was losing the pigment in my hair and now was turning a reddish color. These hairs seem to be the weakest, and they come right out. My is very brittle and weak. Did any of you experience this with your hair loss?

Hi Heather,

I too have dark thick curly/frizzy hair and when I first started to loose it, I noticed the texture started to change, more frizzy finer texture but still very volmunous but no color change. Since I am now in menopause, it's a nightmare because hormonal changes affect the hair. I won't do anything, just a big ball of frizz. I have to straigthten it every morning and then put a hairpiece on top of that. Since the hairloss is diffuse, you will notice it will eventually go very thin there and the rest will remain thick but may change texture for the worse. Curly hair with hair loss is a real challenge!
Hi Annie, thanks for your reply...but notice that you have FPB...mine is autoimmune.
