I experienced hair loss in 5 areas. 1 large section(about 2" x 2") and 4 smaller sections (about the size of an egg). My hair continued to fall out for about 6 months and the areas affected were completely bald.
Thankfully my hair started regrowing about 8 months after it began falling out. However, the new hair grew in perfectly white and much thinner. Then gradually each of the spots began to fill in thicker with dark pigmented hair (I'm naturally sale & pepper). So, I'm thinking that it just takes longer for the pigmented hair to rebound.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thank you,
Catherine

Hi Catherine,
I've had the same experience with regrowth over the years & noticed that if the regrowth continues, it will revert to the original color. Explained to me that although the follicle is producing hair, it's not able to produce melanin (color) until later in the growth stage. You may also notice that regrowth can be a bit different in texture & curl pattern. Hope this gives you some insight in what others experience.

Thank you!
I had another spot that recently filled in. First the white hairs grew back. Then about 9 months later the black hairs grew back. The white hairs stayed white. So I'm back to salt and pepper again.
I'm trying to enjoy the break from all the hair maintenance. I bought a couple pretty wigs for special occassions. They look better than my real hair and a lot less work...LOL! Mostly I just go natural.
I appreciate your response. Best of luck to you!
