Hi! My daughter has had Alopecia Totalis since the age of 3.  We have recently been struggling in finding a high quality hairpiece.  The salon we worked with for the past 5 years has told me they can no longer find high quality long hair.  I paid a very high price for her 2 most recent hairpieces and after waiting for a year they arrived and were of horrible quality.  This never happened before.  The hairpieces were European high quality hair and beautiful.  These new ones have been a nightmare to deal with.  It takes 20 minutes after washing and conditioning (and treating with masks) to brush the hair out and when they are dry after just 15 minutes they start to mat underneath and knot.

I am looking for suggestions for people who have had good experiences at any wig shops in the NYC or Long Island area.

Thank you!

Poor girl, I really sympathize with you. Honestly, I have never encountered such a problem. I was surprised that it is a problem to find a reasonable hairpiece in America. You know, colored strands are in fashion now, which you can buy on Aliexpress and Amazon in thick bundles. They are still woven into spikelets and Afro-braids. Yes, they are not natural, but they look fantastic and create a reasonable volume. You can find how to french braid your own hair and use them as a temporary variant.
