So after a few months of suddenly losing hair, I think I'm just about ready to accept what's happening and that I am ready to purchase a wig. I'm new to the game, and so have a few random (and probably silly!) questions that hopefully some of you out there could help to answer...
1) I have booked my very first appointment to look/purchase a wig from the chain 'Trendco' (in the UK) tomorrow morning at the Birmingham branch. Has anybody shopped from here before, and if so, did you have a good experience? I briefly spoke to the manager when booking an appointment and she seemed to be lovely. I'll be taking my mother with me for support as I have no idea what to expect!
2) I still have longish hair (whatever is left of it anyway!), but I've been debating whether it would be easier to either cut my hair short, or to shave it all off completly? I am suffering from pretty bad psoriasis on my scalp and have to put on medication regulary. Something is telling me that life would probably be a lot easier if I just shaved off the rest of my hair, but I just need that extra prod to do it...
3) Finally, what would most people recommend - real human hair or not, and why? I have a rough idea of the pros and cons by researching on the internet, but it would be nice to hear people's personal experience with various wig materials.
Any light on this subject would be much appreciated!
Many thanks beforehand :)

I am also new to buying and wearinig wigs. I use the website www.wigsupport.com to get information. They are a group of ladies in the USA, all wig wearers with hair loss and they have photos and info about just about every type of wig you can think of. Good luck with your purchase.
Hi
I met with the Trendco people recently at a conference I attended in the UK. The people I met seemed to be good people doing the best they could with the products they supplied.
Their wigs were mostly synthetics or processed human hair. There are pluses and negatives with these choices, and as you have said you have researched and sort of understand what they are.
My knowledge base is really with unprocessed virgin human hair and Freedom Vacuum wigs. My daughter has been wearing them for the last 10 years and the hair and the cap construction has worked incredibly well for us.
Please make sure you never confuse processed human hair with unprocessed virgin human hair, as they are as different as a synthetic jumper or a cashmere jumper, they can look similar at the beginning of wear but longevity, beauty and comfort are very quickly understood if you wear the two options.
I would always recommend 100% unprocessed virgin human hair and a Freedom vacuum cap (I am biased as I said my daughter has been wearing them for years and I also help people in New Zealand with this type of wig). If you would like any info feel free to ask any questions you may have.
The ladies at wig support mostly wear synthetic wigs and processed hair lace wigs. They are knowledgeable about these choices and are good people to discuss them with.
Good luck with your investigations.
