Hi. I am new here but I was wondering if anyone had heard of Amevive? My dermatologist mentioned it to me about 6 months ago and was trying to see if my insurance might cover at least some of the expense since it is really expensive. I guess it is supposed to help with psoriasis but one of the side effects was that it helped with AA.
Here is a link that tells more about the research and (I think) an up and coming trial- http://www.hairlosstalk.com/hair-loss-news/Article214.php.
I would really like to hear of anyone's experience with this drug or even what your thoughts about the drug are.
Thanks :)

Hi Yuko-

The link you have posted is way out of date. That trial is long ago concluded and I have reported the published results in my blog here: at BaldGirlsDoLunch.org. See the blog posting of December 26, 2008.

that Amevive ( alefacept) when tested against a placebo did not have a positive benefit for patients with alopecia areata.

Thea
baldgirlsdolunch.org.......where the research updates are the most up to date ....including the very latest on the now aborted recruitment of patients with severe alopecia for a Raptiva study at Northwestern.
Ugh. How frustrating. My dermatologist was so adamant it might work. Of course, he doesn't have alopecia :p
I will definitely look up the website. Thanks so much for the reply.
