I am three days in to wearing my first wig that I paid $400 for and it looks so fake! I tried washing it, adding conditioning spray,... Why is it doing this? I am so upset. I was so happy leaving the shop and now it looks horrible. It is a Raquel Welch full synthetic. HELP seriously please!

If you look up "hand-tied" wigs, you'll come up with results.  I find that Wigs.com is generally a good place for browsing -- you'll get, at the very least, a basic idea of what's out there in terms of synthetic hair and some human hair.

Re wearing wigs over biohair or not: This is all entirely up to you, a matter of personal preference and comfort.  Some factors might be how hot or sweaty your head gets (some people -- like me -- run hot; others do not); whether you intend to wear a wig cap to keep your biohair down and smooth; how you want to affix the wig to your head (elastic/tabs only; tape; combs); and whether you're comfortable shaving your head or not.  Everyone's different.  Many wigs can be worn over your biohair, but you may want to wear a wig cap so that the fit is smoother and there are no lumps.  Other wigs, like full lace (meaning that the entire cap is lace), cannot be worn as easily over biohair and work best over a bald scalp.  It absolutely depends on your type of hair loss and what makes you comfortable.

Hi,

Have you tried adding some product to make it look wet as i know from experience that sometimes add realism. For that amount of money you could buy a human hair custom made one.You will have to wait a month or so to get one made but it will be well worth the wait.I am sorry your not feeling confident in your current wig.Maybe when it settles it will look better.Give it time.

Im happy to hear that every thing worked out well. Although I also make wigs professionally, I wont go posting my work here you can just google me ChiTi Beauty ( smile). First purchasing a wig has alot in the process; from finally mustering up the nerve to wear one every day and dealing with the subconscious thoughts of every one thinking you are wearing a wig, selecting the piece and of course the cost then the upkeep. However, I find that selecting a wig you should start on if you want human hair or heat safe one, the style that reflects you day to day and above all the upkeep after you purchase the unit. I do find that Racheal Welch wigs are not only trendy in their styles but the maintenance is easy as well.
