Hello. I have a strange question that I hope some of the more knowledgeable people can help me with. I've had AU for about three years now, and I have been thinking for awhile about getting a Freedom Wig. My sister, who naturally has thick, long beautiful blonde hair, just chopped all of her hair off and gave it to me in hopes that I can have it made into a wig. Do you know how long her hair will "keep"? A friend of mine--who is not a hairdresser, just someone who styles hair a lot--says that cut hair becomes brittle within a few years. Is that correct? I'm a graduate student, and affording a Freedom Wig now would be quite difficult, though I could put it on a credit card if I absolutely had to. Should I go ahead and make her hair into a wig now? Or should I keep it for a few years until I can better afford it? Thanks for any help you can give. I appreciate it.
As a side note, my current wig is still doing okay, though I will have to replace it within the next six months to a year. Obviously, this will be expensive, just not as expensive as a Freedom Wig.

A human hair wig will last from 2-3 years if worn daily and if you take proper care of it. main factors for longer lasting wigs are the proper combing and the proper treatment. If you want to keep the cut hair of your sister you may want to consult with the wig maker. I believe you would have to keep it at a very safe place and treat it with something so that it does not turn to dust...
