Hey everyone. I wanted to share my big news with everyone. I'll give you the short story :) I went to a functional medicine doctor this week. I've been down the road with the dermatologist and primary doctors for 5 years now, since my alopecia areata began. I've tried topical and injectable steroids, but didn't get any result. I was NOT going to do oral steroids, so I stopped going to the doc about it. Well, I recently met this functional medicine PA. I got my answer from her Wednesday. After I told her about my alopecia experience, one of the first things she asked me was if I had had any vaccines prior to the onset of alopecia. I remembered that 6 months proir, I got the H1N1 shot. She dropped her pencil on the desk and said, "That's it!". I couldn't believe it! She was 100% certain that the cause of my balding was H1N1. She named off the chemical that's in the shot (it started with an "s") that caused immune reaction. She went into detail about how it affects the cell membranes and so on. She said that I was not the first person to see her about hairloss associated to H1N1!!!!! She treated another lady for the same thing. That lady did a detox of her body to rid herself of the chemicals in the brain from the shot. She is cured now and hasn't had any reoccurrence of alopecia! So, I also started the same regimen of supplements and am VERY hopeful that it will cure me too! Praise God for my answer!!!
