Usually in my experience it just does it's own thing! I try to not pay too much attention to my changing hair loss patterns now. When I was younger I used to get excited when I saw regrowth thinking I was going to get my hair back. I was forever disappointed when it fell out again. So now I am kind of detatched from my hair and figure it has a mind of it's own. It never does what I want to to and so now I just let it do it's thing. It saves me from too much disappointment but I always hope it may come back sometimes. I wish for eyebrows and the bits of eyelashes that are missing most. But if you can identify a pattern with the changes then maybe there is something you can do? I don't know.... Really hope the growth continues... Don't mean my reply to sound negative. It's only my experience and your alopecia is completely individual to you.. Be really happy for you if it grows back!
Well, I let it alone last time and had lost all hope. Recently had the same thing happen again. And I said what the hey, I'm gonna shave these bad boys off. weeks later they come in darker and longer. and continually keeping up with this regiment of shaving, I'm now shaving once a week and all hair on my head is dark. It's kinda neat. My assumption would be that shaving is a good way if exfoliating the scalp and opening up pores. so Idk what to expect. I'm just gonna continue this process. ill keep you guys updated.

I had Alopecia Areata at the age of 5, I Ended up shaving my head and lost my eyebrows at 6. I am now 23 so I have had AU for 17 years. The last time I consulted with my dermatologist was when I was 8 or so. The best thing that they told me is that my hair could possibly grow back. I haven't spent too much time thinking about whether it would or not, but it seems to be comping in at a rapid rate. The doctors offered cortisone injections but i turned them down when I was a child due to the fact of a fear of needles. So I ended up using a topical solution for a few years which in turn did nothing but discolor the skin on my scalp. I am hoping for the best right now. But I wont be disappointed if the hair growth subsides. I don't even remember what it feels like to have hair. Sometimes I consider it a blessing and a curse all in one. My social life is not as I would like it to be, People look at me different, but what do they know. Lol I believe more people should be educated on the subject. But keep me updated on everything. I like hearing other progress and regress with this condition. It's rather intriguing what our bodies are capable and incapable of doing.
