Hi Everyone,
I just joined today. Thought I would share my story for those going thru what I have. My hair loss is primarily on the top but very thin on the sides. When it got so thin the wind was showing my shiny scalp I made an appointment at a hair salon that sold hair pieces. I was horrified when they shaved the top of my head but when they put the piece on I cried from happiness. For the first time in years I felt pretty again. It was a stock piece. For anyone that wants to go this route, I suggest you have the professionals apply and reattach it the first few times so you can watch what they do. They have great u tube videos too. It's so much easier removing and applying your hair piece yourself and a heck of a lot cheaper. I now use a 16" 3/4 lace piece I get from Top Lace. I've been with them for 4 years and the quality is amazing every time. Their prices are 1/2 of what I paid before for the stock generic pieces. I use super tape and walker glue for attachment. I sleep in mine, (on a satin sheet) and reapply every 2 weeks. It lasts up to a month but I can't wait that long. I know it seems over whelming, but I suggest if there is no way your hair will grow back you make the move before it gets too noticeable. Looking at the pictures of all of us you would never know people are wearing wigs or hair pieces. My fiance of 2 years had no idea I wear a hair piece until I just told him. Hope this helps.

Interesting post. I know I went to a place years ago and they told me that they would shave the top of my head. This was years before I starting losing any hair. But I always had fine thin blonde hair and wished to have a good head of hair. I couldn't go that route. Now, of course, I also have ophiasis, so just a top piece wouldn't really cut it. Anyway, it would be next to impossible I am sure to match my blonde hair. When someone has dark hair, I feel it is much easier. What color hair do you have that they could match it so well? I would need European Russian hair to get the same fine texture. Welcome to AW!!
