Hello everyone i'm new to this site and after 4 years of hiding this disease I have decided to come out and share my story because I see i'm not alone.  I decided to go to the beach with my kids, they wanted me to get in the water with them so I decided to go in but not too deep.  Little did I know a big wave was coming in and knocked me down and also knocked my wig off.  I never wanted to die but at that moment I wanted to drown.  I kept telling my friends to let me drown because I was so embarrassed and I would rather have been dead than to let anyone see me bald at that moment.  I want to know how can I enjoy my life especially in the summer when I want to get in the water or get on fast rides without worring about  my wig falling off? Please help me..... Sorry for such a long story...............

Hi

I think hats with hair are a great alternative for swimming etc.  The other choice you could make is to get a Freedom Wig which enables you to really just get on with life.  My daughter swims, rollercoasters, wears updo's etc. etc. It is not a cheap option but one that has given me and my daughter the ability to move on with life even though alopecia is here to stay.
