Introduction

Hi! My name is Erin- I have had a bald spot since early childhood, which has remained stable for years (decades, really). Just recently, it has expanded. It's no longer circular- it has grown laterally and the edges are no longer well defined. Have an appointment Tuesday & hope to learn more there. This is an inspiring group!! I've shed tears thinking of losing my hair, but seeing so many beautiful, bald ladies (& men!) has made it seem much less scary. Thanks for your willingness to share- you are all an inspiration to me!

Hello Erin, I am glad you have found this site. I am new to hair loss too and found this site last summer, it has been an absolute Godsend to be able to interact with people that are in the same position as myself. I wish you well with your appointment. I went to a dermatologist at my local hospital that was very nice but he wasn't really the up on my type of alopecia, I found a group of ladies on here that have my condition (frontal fibrosing alopecia) and they gave me the details of a specialist and I have now got myself referred to him and started treatment a few weeks ago. If you have a look round you will find a group that has the same type of hair loss and may well be able to get advice on which dermatologists to see etc..
