I'm a 20 year old guy. My hair dresser noticed a small bald spot on my head about a month ago. Since then it's gotten slightly bigger. Luckily the bald spot is just above my ear and my long-ish hair does a pretty good job at covering it up. I made an appointment with my doc and she diagnosed me with alopecia areata and prescribed me Taro-Mometasone (0.1% Mometasone Furoate). She said to apply it daily for 5 days and gave me a referral to a dermatologist. I went to the dermatologist and he told me that the topical solution won't do anything unless I apply it daily for ~ 4 months straight. I'm not sure who to listen to anymore and my gut feeling just tells me not to put anything at all. Has anyone has good/bad experience with this topical corticosteroid? Am I better off applying it daily until regrowth, or should I just let nature take its course and hope for the best?
