In the last 3 weeks I have lost 75% of my hair and it's still coming out.  I need to shave my head, but I can't because I have no wigs, no knowledge, and no idea what to do.  My hair is so thin and patchy right now that I have to wear a hat and can take the very little hair I have left and roll it into a messy type bun.  I'm literally using the tiny rubber pony tails for infants because that is how little hair I have left.  I need a wig and I need to shave, I know, but I can't shave until I have something.  I have reached out to a few wig boutiques, but haven't heard back since it is a weekend.  I'm wondering if there is anything that I could order online just to have as a wig to wear under my hats so I can just go ahead and cut my hair off.  I'm so tired of picking my hair off of everything, I look terrible so I can't look in the mirror and I know, without a doubt, I have to just get rid of the little hair I have left.  I had long wavy brown hair.  Is there any wig I can order online just to buy me some time to wear under hats until I can get myself a good wig.  This may be a stupid question, but I hope that someone can understand and provide me with something.  I need hats, beanies, whatever, they are called ,but again I have no idea where to buy this stuff.  This Alopecia came on so fast and has been so aggressive that I have not even had time to try to figure out what I'm supposed to do.  Please help me, thank you!

Don't use any more rubber bands -- those will cause more hair to fall out.

Try searching for wig boutiques in your area so that you can immediately go in and try on some wigs.  If you go to the CreatedHair.com website, there is a section called "How to Order" that explains how to take your head measurements -- this will help you figure out whether you need a petite, average, or large cap.  The CreatedHair website has excellent sections explaining about hair loss, types of wigs, etc. -- it's a good education in one place.

If you're looking for synthetics, Wigs.com is a good place to start (the website seems to be down right now).  I've had good luck with Amore synthetics -- the models I've had are Brandi, Cody, and Marie.  If you know the model and manufacturer, you can even order off of Amazon and if you have Amazon Prime, you can have it in a day or two.  You will need to get the wig cut to your face so that it's not too long, etc., and looks more natural.  Wigs.com and WilshireWigs both sell hats, turbans, and beanies -- those can also be ordered off of Amazon and Ebay.

When it's time to shave, get a good razor -- a 5-blade.  Go slowly and carefully.  Use one hand to feel in front of the razor -- almost like you're playing at being blind and going by touch alone -- so that you can follow the curve of your skull.  You might want to have someone with you the first time or two.  I shave every day and like to put regular bio-hair conditioner on my head first and then shave with the conditioner on -- causes less irritation to my scalp and makes the shaving smoother.

Sorry to hear you are going through this. Having a wig that works, even if it isn't perfect, is a big help because at least then you have another option. I wonder why you say you have to shave? You only have to shave if that is what feels right to you, is the best of the bad options for hairstyles, or is all that will work under some fancy hairpiece. Headcovers.com has a nice selection of hats and scarves, though my favorite wintertime, around the house hats are just soft fleece ones. I found wigsbypattispearls videos helpful when I was first looking into wigs. There are several online retailers that sell good quality, synthetic wigs, and I think synthetic wigs are a good place to start, though be aware that long length wigs tend to get tangled and frizzed at the ends and not last very long. Wigsupport.com is a great resource and community of supportive folks.

Hi there.. I usually shop at vogue wigs, they have affordable options and user reviews with pictures, I'm sure you can find something temporary there. If you find a brand name you like you can get a fast one off amazon, like maybe a cheap Vivica Fox or Forever young wig.

Of course you don't HAVE to shave but it sounds like you're ready. It's ok to do it whenever you like. I shaved my head after I lost 30% of it because I also hated picking clumps of it off everything, breaking the vacuum cleaner, clogging the drain. It's a very personal decision with no right or wrong way to do it.

To choose a more permanent wig I highly recommend youtube's Cysterwigs reviews. Highly detailed reviews, and she runs an online wig shop.

Hi I'm sorry this is happening to you at this time. Life is full of surprises and adjustment. Do you like LONG hair or SHORT hair? Here is the link for the online store, " Beautiful Hair Products and Accessories Store" http://www.Store.NaturallyYoursBoutique.com navigate and click on "wigs" tab. You will find human hair wigs and synthetic wigs. The selections are wonderful creations and quality at budget-friendly prices! Let me know what you think.
I really hope this helps Alopecia612!
Peace.

I've heard you can get some decent wigs on Amazon, and to read the reviews. I'm not at wig stage yet myself, but from previous amazon orders I have had items arrive within a day or two. This could certainly be a quick fix option for you until you are able to access one of the boutiques. Good luck.
