I was diagnosed With Alopecia Areata just days after my 21st birthday. I lost about 30% of my hair in less than 2 months. I did the steroid treatment only once. I decided against anymore injections because it didn't work. All it did was scar my scalp and give me chin hair. (bummer). Despite the treatment not working I was accepting of my condition. (Although I was still feeling bitter about returning to beauty school.. most might say "go back, raise awareness".. But it was still too new to go back..) UNTIL!! 2 days ago! My patches have grown at least half an inch!
Here's my answer: (sorry for the male gender) I'm Pregnant!
I found out I my husband and I are having our second child a week and a half ago.
Oddly enough, I haven't even started my prenatal vitamins (which is the reason for fast growing hair and nails).
My assumptions are the remission will only increase once I in fact start my vitamins.
I'm in no way saying "go out and get pregnant." It just so happens to be the thing that worked for me. Everyone is different. I think a logical explanation is my body is replenished enough to conceive, which is a miracle because we've been trying for 5 months. Y'know AA is an internal thing. It all starts inside out.
I hope this was moving, again, sorry to the male gender..
I'll keep this updated and answer any questions any of you have.
Thanks for listening.
