Hey everyone,
I have a question that hopefully someone will be able to answer.
My alopecia is not horrible at the moment, as my only patches are underneath, and if i dont pull my hair up, you cannot see them. Having said that, I really want to dye my hair, but my mom is skeptical. She is afraid that chemical dyes will worsen my condition and cause everything to fall out, so I suggested dying it with Kool Aid. This way, it doesn't stay in for as long and doesn't give off such a bright color, as well as way less chemicals. So basically, my question is, does anyone know if dying your hair with Kool Aid is safe for people with Alopecia??
Thank you so much this really means a lot to me!

I can't speak for Kool-Aid, but I HAVE dyed my hair since my Alopecia started. From my experience, I wanted to feel like I still had SOME control over my hair...while I have it..It did not make my hair fall out any worse. I remember my scalp being very scabby a few days afterwards though, and it did not color the new growth that I had at the time...but since it was Auburn, it DID color my scalp where I had the hair loss previously. Not sure if any of this information will be helpful to you. I was glad I did it though.
thank you so much!
dye shouldn't make the problem worse. it's an auto immune problem, dye won't effect it. But, it can dry out your hair, and make some break off. Bleaching would do this. Adding color should be fine though.
fantastic! thank you!! :)
