Hi everyone, I am new to the site & this is my first time blogging about this. I have been struggling with alopecia areata for over 18 years. it has gotten to the point where I have had enough of trying to hide it or cover it with hair pieces, so a few years back I shaved my head and have been doing that every morning since. I still do not go out in public without a hat because even when you shave it with a razor you still see the stubble which look awful and wearing a hat all he time is a hassle especially when there is a wedding, funeral, church, fine dinning or any other place that does not let you in with a hat. The first 7 years I was getting cortisone injections and using a topical cream but did not seem to work, my hair would come and go. So I have not used anything over 11 years and is now the worst it has been, I would say about 50-60% of my hair is gone. Recently I went to my dermatologist and I asked her what if I were to laser of all my head, which if feel if I could get a smooth bald head with no stubble this would be my cure and she said that this would be a great alternative, and a healthier option than using all the steroids just know that this would be permanent. So I am at the point were I need to make this decision. So my question is has anyone tried this? is there any other options? or any up coming treatments that anyone knows about that is worth doing or waiting for?
