my eight year old daughter megan wrote a book for her sister isla who is five and has alopecia. it was to show everyone that her sister is beautiful despite being bald and is the same as everyone else. we got it published for her and she had publicity in the local paper. since the article and book people have commented that the didnt like to ask what was wrong. It has had a positive effect in the two weeks since it went on sale as part of its purpose was to show everyone that her sister could be as loveable, cheeky and mischievous as anyone else. She is starting primary school in August and feel that it has helped as people now know what she has and already we get more smiles from people as we pass and less stares. I think before we tried to think that we could in some way ignore its effects while out. However by tackling it with publicity we have found it easier to show everyone that yes she is bald but so what , she is just as amazing as her three siblings who don't have alopecia and just as beautiful and i think it has helped her.

Hi

That sounds so great. Is there any possibility of showing the book here. I would love to read what your daughter has said.
