Hello all, I was diagnosed with AA in Nov.2011 and started with just spotty patches which have now turned into my entire head of hair being lost :( I am trying to deal with it the best I can but it is really hard at times. I find myself crying getting ready for work or when I lay down for bed at night.
I am now starting to lose my eyebrows as well. The right one is over 50% gone and the left is thinning but not as noticeable. Is there anything I can use or do to stop this? Thanks for any advice!

I think I am going to head back to Derm in the next few weeks and see what they say about the Minoxodil.
I do have pretty good support from my family and my close frriends but still not all know.
Thanks for the advice!

oh my gosh!!! i was part of Minoxodil's study through the Upjohn company i think when i was a kid in omaha, NE --- didn't really work for me though!!

Hi Becca. My hair loss started about the same time. I have diffuse Alopecia Areata and also lost my eyebrows. Have you seen a dermatologist? steroid injections did help bring my eyebrows back a little. I know how emotionally devastating this condition is. I cry a lot also, but try to stay positive as it can always grow back and for many people, it often does. Wigs are the best option in the meantime, although for me that really took some getting used to. Try to stay strong and eat a healthy diet. We are all in this together.

Thank you for the response it is encouraging to hear others going through the same! I have seen a Derm and was doing the steroid injections on my scalp for about 6 months and it seemed to make things worse after a while. I was also on topical and oral steroids all at the same time and gave up after a while. I do have and wear wigs now which I am still getting used to! Thanks for the advice :)

Hi Becca, I had my eyebrows tattooed in November 2011, just this afternoon I went to another salon to have some more work done (thicker/longer brows)... The technique of doing hairstrokes so your brows look like individual hairs are growing really does make a huge difference to your face and looks fab. I don't know of any treatment to help your brows regrow but certainly getting mine tattooed boasted my self esteem big-time. Good luck with your search for a treatment. XX

Thank you for the advice. I was thinking of the tattoo thing as well as I am into tattoos anyway. I am just concerned on finding someone in my area or not too far that has experience and will do a good job! I may start researching. Thanks :)

Hi , had a little regroth with minoxdil 5% . Used this while I was saving the money to get them tattooed. Since having them tattooed I stopped the minox. They look good and I feel better.

Hi there

I´m in the similar positon, I started to lose my hair in marz 2012 and it was all gone this summer.( Diagnosed whith Diffused Alopecia and Telogen effluvium) In last August my eyebrows and eyelashes started to fall out. Now over 50% is off but i can see that there is new comming as well so I havent done anything about it. I was thinking about steroid shots but I´m a litle bit affraid of it. I think i will go in the tattoo busness if they keep on falling off.

Hi,

I am similiar to you too. My hair took 9 months to completely fall out and I have had no eyebrows for about 6 months now. I had steroid injections at the Dermatologist which did make them grow back, it took about 2 weeks after the injection. They grew back black and my eyebrows used to be light brown! They didn't stay there for long though and fell out again. I draw my eyebrows on now which is annoying but I'm not game enough yet to get them tattooed on. Hope this helps you.

Becca: may I echo those who love their brow tatooes. I hight recommend doing this and getting the feather strokes. They just look so real!!! Since I have also lost lashes, I had my upper lid "lined" with tattooes as well and this really fools the eye. Really looks like you have lashes. Add a little color on the lid and you are good to go. You will be OK. It takes some time. Blessings.
