Male pattern baldness or androgenic alopecia ...minoxidil will work?

I have androgenic alopecia..

my maternal grand father had same..

Looking at norwood scale hair loss progression chart ,

am either at 5 or 5a level.

will minoxidil 5% work?

If not what are  there any other suggestions than hair transplant?

Also, what type of wig you can suggest?
