Today, Pam Rosse and I each drove about 45 minutes from where we live to meet in person for the first time. We had a great two-hour conversation over lunch. I just posted a photo of me and Pam taken at the restaurant. Previously, I've gotten together with Carol Solis for lunch. And, Carol and Camille and Lindsay and Kim joined me in San Diego for National Bald Out Day.

It's so wonderful, and so supportive, to meet AW friends and to sit in a public place together with another bald Alopecian! I encourage everyone who lives anywhere close to AW friends to arrange a meeting. THANK YOU rj and Cheryl for creating this place for us to connect and to meet great people!

Has anyone else who's gotten to know someone on Alopecia World arranged an in-person meeting? Please share your stories here.

Hi Mary,

I had dinner with a fellow Long Island girl around my age recently, whom I met on AW named Jen. We are both vegetarians (I'm vegan) so we went to a veggie friendly restaurant and got along famously. I was surprised to see that she had a full head of her own hair, but happy for her recovery due to cortizone injections.

While we are different as night and day in a lot of ways, I think we can both learn from eachother and have fun together. We certainly had a lot to talk about!! We plan on getting together at some vegetarian meet-ups and other things again soon.

p.s. Hi Jen if you're reading this!!
That's great! What a coincidence that you're both vegetarians. Pam and I found out we have a lot in common in terms of background, age, and interests.
I had such a WONDERFUL time today. I could not believe how fast the time went, 2 hours whoosh right by. Mary & I had a ball & found we had so much in common. It was amazing. I loved it & cannot wait to do it again.

I too cannot thank Cheryl & RJ enough for creating this amazing site.
For it you two had not, I never would have met the extraordinary woman I had the honor & pleasure of meeting for lunch today.
Honesty, integrity, compassion, kindness & understanding are values I admire a great deal in a person & Mary posses all of them. I'm sure many of you on AW already know/knew that about her.

I am so proud to not only call her my friend but also Alopecian Sister & look forward to many years getting together for lunches or dinners & of course a life long friendship.

Feeling the way I do right now, I encourage fellow AW members to try to do as Mary & I did, it's so worth it.

Gee, Pamela...thanks!

You are most welcome my friend. :)
I have not had that chance to do this yet but this is something I would like to do in the near future!!
I also want to thank rj and Cheryl for creating this site! It has truly been a blessing to me and others.
Thanks!!
I live in MA and in January myself and Dotty arranged a lunch in Boston. It was the first time I met Dotty and some other people form AW. I also took my daughter to Alopeicapalooza and we met several other children and parents from AW. It was so great putting names with faces and emails..I hope Sam gets to meet some more of her pen pals from here one day.
I met my friends from AW the first time 2008 in Louisville and once again in Houston the summer of 2009.

It was an amazing feeling. Wish I could meet them more often.

Roger.
I've had it for 15 years and besides a NAAF conference in St Louis, Missouri a few years ago; I rarely meet people who have alopecia in my everyday life...There have been a few random meetings once in a great while...A support group might be a good place to meet others in your area who have it....I've heard of some such groups in the St. Louis area and I plan to attend a meeting in the near future.....

Best Wishes,
Robert
