Just wanted to start up a new discussion re: methotrexate and hair growth. Has anybody been on this long term and what was your hair growth like over this time?

Some background information on who I am and my experience with it so far. I'll bullet point it so it's easier to follow

- I am 22 years old and in my last year of training at medical school

- Noticed lots of hair falling out in mid Nov 2014 whilst in Fiji, quickly rushed to GP -> dermatologist (same day I saw the GP)

- Diagnosed with AA, I was put on 20mg prednisone immediately (which was increased to 50mg prednisone within a week as it was not stopping the hair loss)

- Within two weeks of starting prednisone I noticed that the hair loss had reduced but not stopping it completely - started on methotrexate 12.5mg

- Sometime in Dec 2014 realised that I was losing hair all over (eyebrows, eyelashes, pubic hair etc etc). By this time I had lost pretty much all my scalp hair

- Had been on methotrexate 12.5mg for 5 weeks, noticed some white fuzz over the top and back aspect of my scalp

- Increased methotrexate dose to 17.5mg as the dermatologist at the time hadn't seen the fuzz yet

- Fuzz has pigmented. The lateral aspect of my scalp is just coming through now. Will post up photos some time.

- Have also noticed some eyebrow hair growth

I have noticed that although there is hair growth, there are very tiny white spots that make it seem like the hair isn't as dense in that area. Did others get this too? Will post up a photo of it when I have more time.
