Hey all, 

I noticed a small patch of hair loss at the end of August and thought it was nothing other than stress until the patch got bigger and I finally went in to see my Doctor in October and was told it was alopecia areata and that he has seen it often when a person is stressed. I have had a stressful year, but I also had the Mirena inserted a year ago (almost to the day) and have wondered about it's side effects and a lot of my reading seems to correlate the Mirena to hair loss.  I have already started corticosteroid injections and see improvement in the original spot, but now have a second spot on the back of my head that will need to be treated.

I have an appointment to have the Mirena removed in a couple of weeks and am hopeful, but I wanted to hear from those that have had the Mirena removed what their hair loss/growth has been like. Have you had hair regrowth? or further loss? if you've had the Mirena removed a long time ago have you had recurrences of AA? Or if you don't have this experience can you share what you know of others experiences who may no longer be on the forum.

Thanks for any information and help you can provide as my hair is and always has been my thing. I have great hair and it's been a few tearful nights when I think about the possibility of losing it completely.
