Hi everyone, I've had Alopecia Areata for about 13 or 14 years now.  Initially, I lost about 90% of my hair, but since that first year, I've had some pretty great regrowth (I'd say at any given moment I have about 80% of my hair, so it's not particularly noticeable except to myself).  This past year though, I noticed hair on the top of my head was thinning, and then just found a pretty big bald spot back towards my cowlick.  The spot is a little misshapen, maybe 2 inches by 1 inch, and the suddenness of the balding is making me think it's an Alopecia Areata bald spot as opposed to Male Pattern Baldness.  My family has a pretty good history of having heads of hair (aside from me and my cousin being shafted with AA).  I was wondering whether anyone else has ever had this sort of conflict: Is it AA or am I just balding?  I'm 26, and Alopecia Areata always gives me some odd comfort that I can beat it, whereas MPB seems like the long hand of fate shoving me towards complete baldness, so I kind of hope it's AA.  But I also recognize that as I get older, this line will continuously be blurred

Either way it's about to get doused in minoxidil hehe.

Because if the way its presenting, more than likely AA. MPB is much, much slower and covers a much larger area.
If you're truly concerned, check with a dermatologist.
