I am diagnosed with alopecia areata. My case is weird though and was wondering if anyone else has the same pattern. I dont have the usual quarter sized prominant bald patches but more like numerous pea sized and even smaller patches all over my top of my head. I also have a wavy pattern of diffuse thinning and pea sized spots along the left and a little on the right sides of my head and in my side burns (I guess its Ophiasis pattern). Lastly most of my left eyebrow is gone and just some of my right eyebrow. My eyebrows tend to itch tremendously before hair fall which I hear is normal and it is quite annoying and frustrating. This all started in February and got much worse after I got started on Corticosteroid ointment 3 weeks ago so I stopped using it.

So, does anyone else have this pattern of numerous tiny spots and wavy diffuse snake like patterns, or is my case just wierd and uncommon? Any treatment options that showed success would be appreciated as I am not looking to go the steroid rout any more and have recently started an herbal regimen that from the lack of replies on my other thread means nobody else has tried.

I hope to get some replies on this posting because nobody at home seems to care to talk to me about this and try to avoid the topic when I bring it up so I really feel alone in all of this.

I just wanted to say that you are not alone! I'm sorry that no one seems to care to talk to you about it. I know how you feel. I have AGA. I had family members that told me I was being vain when I talked about my hair loss when I was upset about it. I hope you can find someone in your life who will talk to you about it. Don't be afraid to talk about it to friends or new people you meet. Talking helped me. I'm sure you will get replies from people who have AA.

Joe ive had the same thing going on less the eyebrows but diffuse all over my head. One frustrating disease ill tell ya. Any treatment help u.
Nothing seems to work for me. I went back on the cortico steroids like a month after my original post because my derm told me that it wasnt the meds but the progression of the disease that was causing more fall out and that I had to be tremendously patient for results because the cortico steroids take months before any improvement is noticable. Well I have now had 2 rounds of steroid injections and have been on the cortico steroid ointment for 3 months and the only improvement Ive had is a slight improvemnt in my eyebrows although they are still incredibly itchy. I just applied my first dose of rogaine foam to the area in the back of my head that resembles regular crown hair loss and Im gonna test that out for 4 months to see if I have luck there and if so Ill apply it to the rest of my screwed up scalp. Any of you guys try this yet? If so, any results?
