Wish me luck going on a sailboat today! I have my baseball cap on pretty tight, but I"m still a little worried it might fly off! I will think positively it will stay on :)

Be careful, your head can burn very quickly! In fact the first sunburn of my life was on the top of my head the first year I had alopeica! I didn't know what it was (I had an idea) until I went to the pharmacy and Dude behind the counter said, with a chuckle, I might add; "Why Sir, you have a sunburn, your first?"

I couldn't help but but smile myself, understand his amusement. After all, sunburn is not some Black people deal with too regularly, I was the first I ever knew to have one and I (and my buddies) played bare back all summer long my entire life!

Ahh, one of the joys of melanin. One of the few that I've ever had, anyway...LOL

So, remember, your head should be protected...By the way, have a great time! :-)
Hope you had a great time. I have discovered that a strong and sudden updraft can lift the bill of a baseball hat right off your head. I had that happen standing at the railing on Ocean Ave in Santa Monica, CA overlooking the Pacific. Big updrafts. At that time I was clamping a fake ponytail bun onto the back of my baseball hats so it was a little back heavy which gave it significant loft when it flew off.

My boat attire nowadays is a large fabric head wrap tied into bow or bun at back of neck. A straw hat with a hat band inside makes a tight fit over the scarf. The scarf protects the back of the neck and absorbs any perspiration and adds color for your outfit. If the wind is very strong I choose a hat with an under chin string. It looks a little dorky, but it's an emergency measure otherwise it's a regular snug fitting hat made by Scala.

Another approach is to wear the large ( I use 30" x 30" usually) thick cotton scarf tied in a big fashionable bun. Then slide a pretty straw visor over your scarf. If the visor is secured with velcro and it's comfortably snug, it won't budge off your head even in a moderate wind.

Hey Aimee, how did the ride go? I'm going boating soon too and Im not sure my plan should be. I dont wear scarves out of the house, only my wigs.
