My Girl is about to start losing her hair again

this time around I know what to expect with it falling out,but im more scared of how it will effect her this time around,as a five year old she lost probably 80% of her confidence and has struggled a lot socially and just recently came out from under her shell or rock,

its the unexpected im having difficulty preparing for, has anyone had a kid/s with Alopecia that has gone through it twice?.

The first time I just kept telling her that I loved her and that she is beautiful ,pretty much everyday and night, but I know she put on a brave face and hid a lot of hurt, im worried this time there will be more hurt and she will find it so much harder then last time and it kills me to know my girl will be feeling sad again

Hi there,

I'm not a parent of a child with alopecia, but I am a recovered 23 year old, who suffered a lot when I was younger.

The best advice and help I ever got was from my mum and dad. It is an extremely hard thing to go through, but the only way to keep going is to have a loving network around you who listen to your issues, build you up when you feel down and love you unconditionally.

One thing to reiterate to her is that this is not forever, and she has come through it once, so why not again.

There is treatment and ways of masking it if this is prolonged though. But as long as you are by her side I am sure she will come through this as a stronger, better person.

I wish you and her all the best.

Yeah, you are doing right now. Just inspire your daughter all the time. And don't hesitate to take your daughter to a hair specialist.
