Has anyone found anything that helps to relieve the scalp pain/burning that sometimes occurs prior to hair loss.  My daughter has been complaining for days that her hair hurts and her scalp burns.  We have tried Advil and sometimes Olux Foam.  Any other suggestions?

Sorry to hear that your daughter is suffering. Wish I had some advice, but the Olux foam has been working well for me. I've stopped using it the prescribed 2x per day and only use it when I feel a flare (for lack of a better term) coming on.

Hmmm, I've never considered what effect Advil would have on my scalp. I take 800mg each night before bed for my joints. I'm going to try it next time I feel it coming on since Advil is much less expensive than Olux. ;)

The only other thing that has worked for me on itching in general is using a cold pack. I'm guessing because it reduces the inflammation.

I wish your daughter the best and hope that you guys find a solution soon.
Hi ,ice in a tea cloth or an ice cube on a particular spot is what i used to use, it was never sore for me though more annoyingly itchy, and scratching and rubbing seemed to only make the hair fall out quicker so that wasn't an option. My heart goes out to your daughter
A friend just said this on Facebook about a burn. Might it work for scalp burn?

Get some Burt's Bees "After Sun" lotion. Takes away the pain AND the burn. Even stops you from getting a blister. Any drug store has it (even Target)
Bless her heart. I have the awful, painful, burning scalp. I have been using a lavendar mist and shampoo. Paul Mitchell Green Tea shampoo also soothes. Hope she gets some relief. I know it's terrible.
