Hiya Everyone! I have really bad pitting on most of my nails, to the point that they just crumble and split. Some even have lifted off the nail bed. Has anyone else suffered from this with their alopecia and if so have you found something that helps them? Any help will be appreciated. Love K x

Hi Kira! Yeh a lot of strange things happen due to our alopecia. This site is great though as you find out that you are not alone with whatever is happening to you due to our condition!!!!!! Hopefully between us all here at AW we can find ways to help each other. Take care! K x

I have struggled with this for years...and I started to eat lots of Fresh Spinich...and the BUMPS & SPLiTS lessened.
NOT ALL TOGETHER....YET THE DENTS GOT STRAIGHT AGAIN.
MY NAILS ARE FLATTER NOW..YET STILL HAVE SPLITS DOWN THE MIDDLE.
WOW...I THOUGHT I WAS ALL ALONE.
YES...I HAD HELL WITH IT & SOME PEOPLE WOULD GO...ERRRR YUCK!
OH...I HAVE ALOT OF CALCIUM, FISH OIL & FLAXEED OIL TOO.
MANY MANY VITAMINS.
ARE YOU BREAST FEEDING?
MiNA
Hi Mina! Yeh i'm breast feeding. Doing whats best for my son but it kinda limits what I can take. Do you know if I can take flaxseed oil whilst feeding? I know what you mean about people looking at them and commenting (always thinking its some kinda infection). I find that i'm especially conscious of it when shopping and handing over money or signing things. I put nail polish on but you cant hide the ridges and bumps. K x

No...you cannot hide the bumps.I wouldn't much worry.
Lots of spinich I guess...what else can one do.
Read up on flaxeed & the effects over the web.
My daughter was breast feeding and did take omega 3 fish oil.
Easy enough..there is information on the web. great deal of medical as you know.
I know a member who may very well be able to help you...she is a NATUROPATH!
Also has a baby and breast feeding.http://www.alopeciaworld.net/profile/Courtney40
So please...get in touch with her if you haven't yet.
I breast fed for 6 years...where did those days go.
My daughters also had a great run at it.
You can see the girls & grand babies on my profile page.
Yael breast fed her daughter Layla for over two years..& was hard to ween.
Yet Chanel who is 1 in a couple of days...stopped all by herself...so it's a big loss for my daughter.
Actually...my daughter Aviva did the exact same thing..when I fed my son & her at the same time..she finally gave up on her own.
Good luck my sweet xx
Hi Mina! Thanks for your helpful info and for passing on your friends profile. I don't spend as much time worrying about my nails or hairloss this time round, maybe i've started to accept the condition more or maybe as i get older just more accepting in general! I can't believe you're a gran - no way, you look so young! Have seen the most recent pictures of one of your daughters - she's beautiful, must take after her mum! I'll try and get my hubby, Ali, to help me put some pic's onto my profile and put more info on about me - I'M SUCH A TECHNO PHOBE!!!! Take care Mina and speak to you soon. K x x x x
