Did anyone read about the new study out of Columbia U? About the genetic link to Alopecia? Does this mean there is a hope for treatment/cure in the near or somewhat distant future???? I am AT, going AU and don;t want to get excited over nothing.....

Dear Kathleen: I just read the article and I am "through the roof" extremely excited!!! Yes, this research is a complete break through. Out of the eight genes that contribute to Alopecia, a few of those genes also cause other diseases which are currently treated with drugs. This means that new treatment options will be available. I don't know how long it will take for new drugs to be developed for treatment. I am only hopeful for a future where no one has to suffer from A.A.
