Hello Erica

My personal and professional advise is to look around and work out what your needs are with a wig.  Make a check list and start anew while learning about the options that may be available to you.

I'm not sure what type of human hair your hair club wig was made out of but I would think it may have been processed human hair.  If you are wanting something like that again ...possibly someone will come along and talk about the lace wigs that many enjoy.

If you would like a wig that is made from 100% unprocessed virgin human hair...which is very very different from processed hair.  I'm happy to help with any information you may like.  My daughter has been wearing Freedom Vacuum Wigs for the last 11 years and she loves them...so do I, they are one of a few companies that deal with 100% unprocessed virgin human hair.  I help people with this option in NZ.  If you would like any information on this type of wig feel free to message me or ask any questions you have here.

I have always had a custom (fit to my head with the whole plastic wrap and tape deal) and it was real human hair about it being processed I do not know but I will not use fake hair. I can pick highlights in it and colors and length. Hair Club is the company I have been with for years and they sold and are now making a worse product for more money I used to love them but what I have been put through in the last year isn't ok and I'm not even sensitive about my hair (I wear it to work out for fun that's about it). I want a place where it will be custom made real hair and worth my money.

Hello Erica

What you have been used to and what I know about the wigs I prefer, means that we are coming at this from two different directions.

A Freedom Wig comes totally unstyled.  The hair is totally unprocessed.  This means that when you get your freedom wig you are able to turn it into you .... like you would your own growing hair.  You can highlight it ...hombre it, style it to suit you.  It has very few limitations except for the realisation that over processing for a style will hurt your beautiful hair...but doing it sensibly will achieve the look you are working towards. 

Whether a wig is worth the money is a decision you have to make.  I personally have always been so thankful that I found Freedom Wigs for my daughter early on in her alopecia diagnosis.  I absolutely 100% think they are worth it.  But you may have different needs and wants than I do.  

I'm going to put a piccie up of a lovely Freedom client in the US.  She received her Freedom hair and then had it styled into a 'hombre' (she is quite young), but I love what she did.

Hope this helps to understand about this type of wig and whether it would be something that could help you.

Would love to hear what you figure out -- I'm newly AU and live in DC and am on my first wig and not quite sure what I'm doing. :)

Well Katie if you ever need any advice I can definitely help you out but I'm not an avid wig wearer I lost my hair and 3 and didn't get a wig until I was 14 for me its more of a toy lol.

 

I spoke with the US reps for Freedom Wigs and was presently surprised by how real they were (actual people with Alopecia not hairy people telling me what to do over something they know nothing about) I will be meeting with the woman over the summer because I just got a new wig and won't need a new one for a year.
