My daughter came across this site. He claims to have success with alopecia for 20 years. Has anybody tried this? Is he for real or just another "expert"?
Thank you.
Myem

PLEASE NOTE: I posted this discussion a couple of years ago, I was "naive" at the time. Thanks to members like Mary and Thea, I have learned to look at the relevant data before subjecting my daughter to the so called "treatments".

Yes, do keep us posted on your efforts with NAAF. If you indeed have a treatment that works, you will have many customers. Personally, I'm not getting my hopes up until there is testing, but I wish you all the best.

I HAVE AN IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR YOU THAT I'M SURE OTHERS ON THIS FORUM WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE ANSWER TO: HAVE ALL OF YOUR "BEST PATIENTS", WHO YOU SAY RECOVERED FROM AA YEARS AGO WITH YOUR TREATMENT, CONTINUED TO TO USE THE TREATMENT FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES? OR, ARE THEY "CURED" FOR LIFE? DOES THE HAIR FALL OUT WHEN THE TREATMENT STOPS? I can't imagine that many people can afford the cost for the rest of their lives.

Todah,
Mary
Thanks Mary.
The treatment is not addictive. Tens of thousands of patients finished the treatment for hair loss, the alopecia process was stopped, new hair grew and they are pleased with the long term results. Alopecia Areata, however, is an unstable condition and may initiate again due to sickness or stress. In cases that Alopecia Areata patches re-occured, another treatment period had been able to recover the hair.

Dear Demm,
Our patients were sending letters, interviewing to press articles, providing testimonials on national TV. Among them are a 9 years old girl and a 6 years old boy who fully recovered. For them, the fact that there was no scientific evidence doesn't matter anymore. Some of these letters, articles and videos can be seen on facebook, youtube.
True, every case is anecdotal for itself, but there are many cases.
Best regards,
Shmuel Gonen Hair Treatment
Thank you for your reply to my other question about stopping treatment.

Now, your recent response to Demm makes me ask 2 more questions:

1. How do you know that this 9 year old girl and 6 year old boy did not simply have a NATURAL remission?

2. How MANY people with alopecia areata have used your treatment and had NO success? You should have that number, and it would be very helpful to know the answer.
What to do? it comes and goes with or without treatments. As a parent, I am prepared to do anything to help my daughter regardless of costs like Andy. She is only 13. This is her first episode, she is losing hair everywhere in the last couple of months. She is coping well for her age. She has a loving extended family, great friends and wonderful teachers. I am following her lead. She is prepared to stop the treatments and let nature takes its course. Like Demm said, remission will come. In the meantime, I am still looking out for new researches and "cures". I pray and hope that someday the real cure will come.
Quote “A Dermatologist in England said,” I have seen 0000's from India and in my opinion they were all Quackery" “Unquote.
Demm: You may be true about a lot of things, but I don’t know how much knowledge you have about the power of Herbal medicine even before allopathic medicine was invented, Ancient Herbal treatment has been curing people, It’s true that a lot of people take advantage of this trillion dollar industry, But not all are same there are some honest people in different corners of the world who would not sell their humanity for money, I am not saying this in reference to any specific Person, Dr or Treatment but this is my thought, As far as 0000's quackery from India goes is true but Don’t forget about Yoga which came from India and now has been commercialized all around world. It is not just about India if you are not smart enough you can be fooled anywhere in the world. Just like Myen said when you are a responsible and desperate parent of a child you want to get and try the best possible treatment on earth, and one more thing HOPE is all what keeps us alive.
Just want to mention that the problem, IMHO, isn't that treatments or drugs are "herbal". Think of all the proven "modern" medicines that are derived from plants - aspirin, for one. I think that there is a great deal yet to learn from traditional medicine sources around the world. As the rain forests are being destroyed, more undiscovered (by modern medicine) folk remedies are probabaly being lost.

The PROBLEM with herbal medicine today is the lack of testing - as we've been commenting here, Demm.
This is a very interesting website, Demm. But, isn't it a little ironic that there appear to be ads for snake oil on the website?
Andy,
My dad practiced as licensed acupuncturist for many years after retiring as a Pharm Doc. (he is almost 90 now). He used both western and eastern medicine in his practice. For herbal solutions, you need to find a reputable herbalist. Many herbal solutions on the market are found to be mixed with arsenic, lead, mercury...that are unsuitable for children.
Wishing the best to your little one and your family. Please keep us informed of the progress.

Shalom. Please help us by answering these simple questions. If it would be easier for you to answer them in Hebrew, I have a friend who can translate for me:

1. How many months did you use Mr. Gonen's treatment?

2. Are you still using the treatment now - at this time?

3. What does the treatment look like? Is it a cream, or a lotion, or something else?

4. What is IN his medicine - what is it made of? I assume Mr. Gonen told you what was in the medicine you were using on your body.

Todah rabah (thank you very much),
Mary
Thank you for those questions!!!!!!!!!!!!
