My son has alopecia universalis (14 years) he is 17 now.His dermatologists referred him to a rheumatologist. We went too the appt. and asked her for a prescription for Xeljanz..she said she could not give him  Xeljanz  because she was a pediatric rhuemotologists and could not prescibed an adult medication to a child ...said for him to go to an adult rhemato!ogists. But while we were there she filled us in on her personal opinion on Xeljanz. She said it might I interfere with the immune system  natural ability to heal alopecia on its own and she stated it could possibly be rejected  by your body and also your body could build a tolerance to Xeljanz and stop working. Has any one heard anything such as this? She wasn't aware of the clinical trials ongoing at Yale or Columbia University.. So I am hoping she didn't fully understand what you was saying . Does anyone have any thoughts on what the doc told us...because my son is waiting for the approval of our financial aid for Xeljanz.. But a little worried concerning these comments.  Thank You for any input
