Hi everyone,

Derm Appointment # 2 just gone....and the news is not good.
I'd just got used to the idea of having no hair on my head, but now my beard ain't working (haven't shaved in 3 weeks) and my brows and lashes are looking a bit worse for wear.

I'm seeing no real hair growth anywhere (!) so.......while I'm getting used to the idea, I figured I'd ask here about the practical things like:

(1) I run a lot - sweat will be getting into my eyes for sure....any idea?

(2) My eyes have started to feel gritty in the evenings.....what's that about?

(3) Tell me everythings gonna be alright - I like to hear that :)

I think I'll adjust OK, 'tis just a bit weird.........

Thanks for the feedback...it helps.

Greg, I had the problem of hot weather melting any wig sprays or make-up so it would run down into my eyes. Sting!
Now, in times when I might get overheated, I avoid anything eyes-up. What meds, shampoos, dyes or creams are you using on your forehead or scalp? Hair probably used to absorb it, but now you may need a stretchy work-out sweat band above your eyebrows and around your head. Are you near smoke, smog, nature, pets or dust during the day? Carpet cleaner? Photographic chemicals or anything else...art materials, dander, women so beautiful they make you cry? Drugs or alcohol? Road-kill while jogging? I have some California skunks I can send you...those will REALLY tear you up if you aren't in a car with windows rolled up.
Awesome post Tallgirl :) I think this is post of the week....
I think I'm going to have to roll back to the 80's with a stretchy headband.

Now where did I leave my rollerskates......(I'm old enough to remember the real thing, not these new fangled in-line variety)
Everything is going to be alright! If you don't want to transform yourself back into the 80's wear a bandana on your head while running.
Hi Meghan,
Thanks for the post.
Eye drops is a good idea, like the ones for contact lense users right?
Like you say (and everyone else said but I didn't believe) , everything is ok :)
Hair or no hair, sweat in my eyes or not, I'm actually used to the chap who's staring mack in the mirror now.

Thanks again for posting.
PS
We've got Barack Obama visiting this week, hope you don't mind us borrowing your president for a while!
I'm in Ireland, he's here tomorrow and Tuesday then off to the UK.
Security is crazy!
I use TEARS Naturale and keep them in the fridge....that's what was recommended by my opthamologist.
Thanks Petra, I'll try them.....
Everything will be alright, its all an adjustment period. I too have lost my eyelashes, eyebrows, MEH...everything LOL. I miss my eyelashes the most, for you really dont realize how much they are actually needed in ones life. I find my makeup runs, dust and sweat. For the sweating I find a lightweight hat or bandanna works the best for keeping the sweat from reaching my eyes. I have used an non-medicated eye drops like Clear Eyes to help clean things out on bad days. Take care and HUGS out to you.
Everything will be alright. Trust me, you won't die, you'll still have your friends and family, and your hair can only grow back. The only bump in the road is coming to terms with who you are, and finding yourself beneath the surface. Be comfortable and happy with yourself.
See an optometrist about the eye problem. I'm assuming it's because you have less lashes to keep out the dust, etc. And athletic goggles while running will keep out the sweat. Good luck!
