Do any of you with Alopecia Areata have a correlations between itching of the scalp and hair loss or hair growth?
Stressful times with fall out ?
Do cortisone injections and creams help with regrowth for you?
Any other ideas?

Just wondering. Have noticed 3 new spots since hair returning to itch in those spots and begin to fall out again. Of course under stress too.
I beleive several factors contribute to the fall out. It follows a pattern as well.

Thanks for your answers.

hello,
I started a discussion about the subject itching.
I have the some problem, my scalp is going to itch on petulaire area's and than the hair is falling out. Do you know when you have that?
And my docors said to my that injections en creams doesn't work, I never tryed, because you are goiing to hope your hair is comming back. It would drive you nutes, because you hop it so desperatly.
My doc. said to that is has nno correlation witch stress. But when you ask my, I would say there is a correlation.

Hey there, I am having the same thing with itchy scalp and hair loss. Hair has grown in (about 1.5-2 inches long) then it gets really itchy and the skin feels hot and the hair comes out. Some with a black ball at the end and others with a a clear coating at the base.

The doctor says there is no research to proove this but I think I know my scalp and how it feels...

Anyone else with similar itch, pain, hair loss?

Also before the hair falls out it becomes coarse and kinky

Yes I call it the cold sore tingle feeling, that is how I best describe it.     it happens you know that area is getting ready to kick out the surrounding hair. Your body thinks it is getting attacked and bammmmmmmmm out it goes.......  I use voltaren in those areas  it helps a smidge with the underlying swelling.

I have done the shots, creams and nothing ever really worked 100%.
