This can be common when you have hair loss due to hormonal changes or some nutrient deficiency.
It would be the best if you would consult with your doctor about this (dermatologist would be the best). I had a similar problem and my hair became thinner and thinner without any too big shredding. I went to my doctor and we did some analysis of the hair. The result was that I am gradually thinning because of androgenic alopecia.
